Melee Weapons

Western Interpretation


Martial Arts are codified systems of traditional combat and fighting systems. A wide variety of "melee weapons" are used for close engagements. Many are interchangeable but the particular method remains the same.





Same technique but different weapon used. Among many knives used the favorite to many is the claw "Kuku" currently used by the Pasukan Gerakan Khas (Royal Malaysian Police).





Designed to resemble a tiger claw or talon by ancient King Adityawarmen of West Sumatra.





All "karambit" look similar to this.





Many other kinds of blades are held and used with similar techniques of knife fighting but definitely are not traditional claw kerambit.

More more modern techniques of blade composition:





 Closely related are the small feminine khukuri, golok cepot, and knuckle trench knife.
