Friedrich I of Wurttemberg-1811




Mauser-Werk Oberndorf Waffensystem GmbH was established on April 31,1811 by Friedrich I.



A small town, a suburb, in German means "Oberndorf", this one in Black Forest making bolt-action rifles.


Friedrich I of Württemberg installed the first armaments factory in a disused Augustine monastery in 1811.






 Throughout the 19th century, tens of thousands of bayonets and rifles were made and stacked beneath the giant nativity and crucifixion paintings and gold-leaf finishings on the ceiling.



Paul and Wilhelm Mauser


1867- Wilhelm and Paul Mauser designed a breechloading rotating bolt system.

1871-  Gewehr, Jaeger, and Cavalry Carbine.  was introduced a box magazine design.

General Paul Emil von Lettow-Vorbeck, used black powder Jagerbuchse 71' rifles to tie down British forces twenty times larger than their own commanding the AFAIK Schutztrupp in the "Victory at Tanga".

In 1897, the Mausers were given control of the Royal Arms Factory, (Waffenfabrik Mauser A.G.) until it fell to the French after WWI. All records were destroyed.

Paul Mauser died at age 76 shortly before May 29, 1914 .

In 1994, the companies Ernst Krause & Co. and Mauser-Werke Oberndorf Maschinenbau GmbH joined their forces and merged into an international group.  This merger saw the integration of two expert machine tool manufacturing companies – both of which came from a background of rich traditions.
