K98 bayonet reproduction taste test.

There is grape soda and then there is Welch's grape soda.
There is Virginia Ham then there is Hansel and Gretel Virginia Ham.

There are genuine Nazi bayonets and then all the others that only dream but end up crying themselves to sleep.

Here are a "taste-test" pitting side by side the two K98 bayonets.  Also some reproduction screw comparison showing "well-made" and "not well" made.  The choice screws are from the Czech Republic.

Notice the differences in contour (genuine on the left and reproduction on the right)

Genuine handles 98/05 can be difficult to spot from a distance compared with reproduction ones:

Paul Jatow, Dodendorf bei Magdeburg (E4)

Material Code (Type Z) Phenolic Resin (Baklit) with cellulose filler.  Additional (Type 3) asbestos included.

The grips shown here were inspected by Elite Diamond Factory.

The photo above is a Paul Weyersberg & Co.
and it is genuine.  It had three rivet grip plates made from horn.  Many people do not think these are genuine but they were made during the "Re-armament Period" 1934 when Germany was secretly gearing up and breaking the Versailles Treaty.

In the photo below you can clearly see the markings under the grips.  This is rare to see but I removed the grip plates to clean off the massive blood corrosion on the natural horn material.

"Yes, it was very gross indeed."

The blade is welded and pinned to the handle.  These tangs were re-used from WWI but fitted with new spear tip unmarked blades.

"It now has new bone grips that I custom made for it."

Is it better restored by myself nice and clean?   Of course because I have integrity and know this is good for the Reich!
