1890 Corn Knife

The first mechanical corn harvester was built by D.M. Osbourne Company of Auburn, N.Y. in 1890.

The photo shown above is an 1890 corn knife that became obsolete during the dawn of the Progressive Era.  This was marked "Auburn Works - Auburn N.Y." before a full restoration and the sheath I made.

John Pierpont Morgan

J.P. Morgan formed Auburn Works in 1902 which is an Agricultural Division of International Harvester Corporation.

The factory opened in 1907 featuring Cyrus McCormick made farm machines.

This 1890 corn knife was sometimes used by "Trail Gangs" in 1924 that worked for the government.

Auburn Prison 1816

Prisoners were sent in groups to clear brush daily.  This rehabilitation became common at other places too.
