Frost 101st. Airborne Knife Modification

The Frost commemorative knife has some problems.  Design is not traditional to the airborne 101st. in style.  Fit on handle grip way small to size of the tang.  Sheath was in a fashion that sucked, but here I go to attempt the fix.  Here is step by step as I change it.

STEP 1-  Trace the excess area to be removed from the tang.

STEP 2-  Give a acid finish to the blade now that tang was trimmed.

STEP 3- Fill hollow grips with recovered zipper teeth for added weight, then glue on.

STEP 4- Tap gently to align well.  Here we see that these grips are not ABS plastic and crack like an egg.

Time to reflect on the crap the Frost brand will sell for good money.

STEP 5- With patience I waited for the glue to cure.  Surprised I discovered that this polymer plastic was able to be tooled with a razor and abrasive sponge.  The crack is not visible on the surface and the zipper tooth filling inside firms the grip well.

STEP 6-  Like cut-down M1 Garand bayonets during the Korean War I sanded the texture off the handle grips until smooth.

Here is the finished knife here below :
